ZIP-FASTENERS AND ZIP PULLERS
Zip - fastener is onen of the most popular bukles, which is used in clothes, handbags, shoes or household textiles.
It consists of a few elements such as zipper tape, chain fastening, zip puller (regular, decorative or two-ways zipper), zip puller ( regular, decorative), fittings at the end of the zip to prevent slipping and moving into two parts.
Zips available:
Non - separable fastener (constant) - is a zip which has a fitting in the end, that prevents if from being separated (used in pockets , make-up bags)
Separable zip - is a kind of zip that after unzipping it becomes separate ( used in jackets, sweatshirts).
One-sided zip-puller - a zip having one zip-puller
Two-sided zip-puller - a zip having two zip – pullers
Zip - fasteners can be divided in two groups:
1. Zips made of plastic:
- spiral zips can be one-sided and two-sided zips, one or two zip-pullers. They can be used in many ways, in sweatshirts, sweaters, jackets, pockets, handbags, make-up bags, etc. One sided spiral zips are perfect for longer jackets or sweatshirts, aloving to zip it from the bottom, giving more freedom of movement. The specific type of spiral zips are invisible zips. - cube zips can also be one or two-sided, one or two-pullers. which differ from spiral locks by chaining, made from simple, plastic overlapping jags. They have good durability, but are less flexible than spiral zips. They are used in the same way as spiral zips for making zip fasteners in blouses, jackets, pockets, handbags, but also in backpacks, sleeping bags, covers or tents.
2. Metal one or two sided zips, one or two zip pullers
In the case of these zips, the zip chain is made of metal in the same way as the chain in the cube zip. They are heavier than spiral and cube zips because of the used materials. They are used to produce zips in female and male trousers (flies), jackets, shoes, handbags, etc. We avoid sewing metal fasteners to clothing made of stretch fabric because it may overload it, causing the knit to pull at the place of sewing the zip.
